One of the most highly anticipated matchups of the second round comes between the Seneca East Tigers and the East Knox Bulldogs, the Tigers projected to win by a score of 37-31. It's do or die for each team as always in the postseason. Regardless of the outcome, each team can take comfort in the fact that they had a successful enough season to get here, but only one team will be satisfied with the result as the other's season will end on a loss. The Bulldogs, one of the top teams in Division 6, come into the game ranked 22nd. The Tigers come in ranked 11th. A new matchup on the schedule for each team, Saturday's game is a chance for each to test its skills and strategies against an unfamiliar opponent. Usually, matchups from the previous year are used in developing a strategy for upcoming games. For these two, no such opportunity will be afforded.
East Knox is currently on a 11-game winning streak, which they hope to continue on Saturday. Coming off of a 21-20 win against the Crestview Cougars, they are 11-0 and their confidence continues to build as they finish up the year. The Bulldogs has one of the best offenses in the entire state, ranking 13th with 45.2. However, they have come back towards earth lately, averaging 31 points per game over the last 2 weeks. While recent games have affected averages negatively, their defense is one of the best as well. They rank 5th in their division, giving up an average of 10.5 points per game.
For Seneca East, Saturday is a chance to expand on a 4-game winning streak after their 14-2 win against the Norwayne Bobcats brought their record to 10-1. In recent weeks, the Tigers haven't been quite as explosive on offense but they remain the 22nd-ranked offense in Division 6, scoring an average of 35.5 points per game. On defense, they've been just as strong. Allowing just 13 points per game over the course of the season, their defense ranks 10th in their division. Over the last 2 weeks, they've been even more proficient, giving up just 7 points per game.
