The Coldwater Cavaliers and the Minster Wildcats meet on Friday for what looks like a relatively one-sided matchup. The Cavaliers are projected to win by a score of 36-15 and have a 85.50% chance to win outright. The Cavaliers head into Friday ranked 11th in the state and will travel to take on a fellow top-100 team as the Wildcats come in ranked 58th. For Minster, the inferior team on paper, this is a chance to ride the home crowd and prove themselves capable against a solid opponent. However, for Coldwater, the expectation is a decisive road victory. The teams are no strangers to one another, playing against each other in each of the last five years. Over their last 5 matchups, the Cavaliers have been superior, coming out on top in 4 of them. However, the past won't matter come kickoff. In last year's installment, the Cavaliers came out on top by a score of 31-20.
While it's a little early to be talking about playoffs, Coldwater would be extremely disappointed if they missed out on the postseason - after losing in the Regional Finals in 2018 to the Marion Local Flyers by a score of 40-19, the Cavaliers are poised to make another run at the playoffs. Coming in with a projected regular season record of 10-0 and a high probability of making the playoffs, the goal is to improve each week so they can make a deep run when the time comes. Thus far, they've been one of the best teams in their division on both sides of the ball. Their 40.3 points per game ranks 8th in Division 6 while their 7 points allowed per game ranks 8th.
Minster comes into the game 3-0 after their 41-20 win against the Fort Recovery Indians last week. They are projected to finish the season 5th in the regional playoff standings, which puts them towards the top of the playoff bubble. The Wildcats have struggled thus far on each side of the ball. Scoring 32 points per game, they rank 27th in Division 6. Defensively, giving up 19.3 points per game, ranks 42nd in the division.
