The Middletown Middies come into Friday projected to finish the season 2-8 at 14th in Region 4. They host the Sycamore Aviators, who are currently expected to make the playoffs at 5th in Region 4. Sycamore have the edge on paper, entering the game as a 10-point favorite. However, the battle for a postseason bid can only be decided on the field. Sycamore ranks 49th in the state, compared to Middletown, who ranks 348th in the state and 59th in Division 1. The Middies will go into Friday looking to prove that, contrary to statistical analysis, they are the better team. There is a certain degree of familiarity between the two teams after they faced off last season. Last year, the Aviators got the better of the Middies, winning by a score of 34 - 14.

Sycamore looks to get back on track this week as they come in on a 2-game losing streak. They are currently 3-2 after a 45 - 0 loss against the Colerain Cardinals last week. They could use some improvement on both sides of the ball - on offense, they rank 52nd in Division 1 with 19.2 points per game; on defense, they give up 21.4 points per game, which ranks 44th.

Middletown will come into the week looking to put an end to their current 4-game losing streak after a 32 - 29 loss against the Princeton Vikings brought their record down to 1-4. Neither side of the ball has been particularly strong for the Middies. Their offense scores an average of 21.4 points per game and their defense allows an average of 30 points per game, ranking 43rd and 60th in Division 1 respectively.

Prediction: Sycamore to win (99.07% chance of victory)
