As we reach the end of the season, teams that still have reasonable chances are jockeying for playoff positioning. For the home team in this matchup, the Wyoming Cowboys, anything but a playoff bid would be a disappointment. They come into the week projected to finish 1st in the Region 16 playoff standings. For the visiting Reading Blue Devils, it's a battle to stay in contention. They are currently expected to finish the season 3-7, which would put them around 16th in Region 20. The Cowboys are the favorites on Friday, projected to win the game by a score of 40 - 7. Wyoming looks to be the superior team on paper, coming into the game ranked 23rd in the state while the Blue Devils rank 381st in the state and 51st in Division 5. While the Cowboys look forward to a potentially dominant home victory, the Blue Devils come in looking for the huge upset. The teams have played each other in each of the last five years so neither is likely to surprise the other. Over their last 5 matchups, the Cowboys have won 4, a trend they hope to continue. In the most recent season's matchup, the Cowboys proved superior, winning 48 - 14.

Reading is 2-5 after their 38 - 13 win against the Mariemont Warriors last week. This week, they look to build on that victory on the way to what they hope will be a strong finish to the season. While the Blue Devils haven't been the most high-powered offense throughout the season, they have been improving week to week. In the last 4 weeks, they've averaged 26.25, up from their season average of 19.7, which ranks 70th in Division 5. They rank similarly on defense, coming in at 94th in their division, allowing 36.4 points per game. That number has generally gone up in recent weeks as they've given up an average of 31 points in their last 2 games.

Wyoming will look to continue the momentum of their 7-game winning streak, the most recent addition to which was a 70 - 0 win against the Madeira Mustangs last week, bringing their record to 7-0. Thus far, the Cowboys offense has averaged 45.7 points per game offensively, which ranks 17th in the state. In recent weeks, they've been even more powerful, scoring an average of 58.67 points per game over the last 3 weeks. While their offense is extremely productive, the defense is what allows them to win games by such substantial margins. Giving up just 6.1 points per game, they rank 7th in the state. In their last 4 games, they've been even more stout, giving up an average of 1.75 points.

Prediction: Wyoming to win (99.10% chance of victory)
