For the Madison Blue Streaks, week 3 brings a matchup that will likely come down to the wire against the Perry Pirates. Coming into the game as a slight 6-point favorite, the Blue Streaks will look to prove they are the better team beyond any statistical comparisons. The Pirates rank 34th in the state while the Blue Streaks rank 146th in the state and 34th in Division 2. Fans on both sides head into Friday expecting the win but only one of the two can come out on top. The teams are no strangers to one another, playing against each other in each of the last five years. Over their last 5 matchups, the Pirates have been superior, coming out on top in 4 of them. However, the past won't matter come kickoff. In 2018's matchup, the Pirates came away with a 38-6 victory.

Coming off of a 49-0 win against the Lakeside Dragons, the Blue Streaks will need to outperform expectations during the remainder of the regular season to earn a playoff spot. They are currently projected to finish 9th in the region with a record of 7-3. Thus far, they've been one of the best teams in their division on both sides of the ball. Their 34 points per game ranks 24th in Division 2 while their 11 points allowed per game ranks 17th.

Perry can expect to make the playoffs once again as their projected record of 9-1 would likely place them top 2 in the regional playoff standings. On offense, the Pirates are one of the best teams in Division 4, ranked 4th scoring an average of 47 points per game. Their defense ranks 92nd, allowing 38.5 points per game.

Prediction: Madison to win (98.03% chance of victory)
