The Vermilion Sailors head into week 4 with the odds stacked against them as they take on the Perkins Pirates, a 44-point favorite. Perkins has a 99.84% chance of coming out on top so this one isn't likely to leave much up to the imagination. The Pirates will look to prove their superiority as they aim for a dominant showing on Friday. A rematch from their game last season, this matchup will be a good gauge on how each team has improved or regressed. In 2018, the Pirates defeated the Sailors by a score of 38-7.

For Vermilion, each game is an opportunity to develop and improve. Projected to finish the season 1-9, each week is a chance to prove they can outperform statistical models and build winning momentum. Thus far, they haven't been particularly strong in terms of scoring on either side of the ball. Their offense ranks 93rd in Division 4, scoring an average of 9.3 points per game. On defense, giving up 32.3 points per game, they rank 81st in the division.

Perkins comes off a 61-28 win against the Columbus Independence 76ers, which brings their record to 2-1. They are projected to make the postseason on a record of 5th, which should put them on the upper end of the playoff bubble. They score an average of 38.7 points per game, which ranks 9th in Division 4. Defensively, they allow 36.3 points per game, ranking 93rd in the division.

Prediction: Perkins to win (99.84% chance of victory)
