As the playoff picture begins to take shape for the Benedictine Bengals and the Notre-Dame Cathedral Latin Lions, they come up on an important matchup against one another in week 7. The Bengals are confident that how they finish the season will be enough to bring them to the playoffs - they come into the game projected to finish 3rd in the Region 6 playoff standings. For the Lions, chances aren't looking quite as good as they're projected to finish 20th in Region 9. The Bengals will come in as the favorites, projected to win the game 35-21. Notre-Dame Cathedral Latin enters the game as the 19th-ranked team in Division 3, which makes this a key matchup in the division as Benedictine comes in ranked 17th. As a relatively sizeable home underdog, the Lions come into the game with a lot to prove. For the Bengals, the only thing to prove is that an advantage on paper can translate into an advantage on their opponent's home field. The teams are no strangers to one another, playing against each other in each of the last five years. Over their last 5 matchups, the Bengals have been superior, coming out on top in 5 of them. However, the past won't matter come kickoff. In 2018's matchup, the Bengals came away with a 30-26 victory.

Last week, Benedictine dropped a game 42-10 against the Hoban Knights. They'll look to get in the win column this week as they hope to finish out the season on a positive note. Offensively, they've been solid. Scoring an average of 42.7 points per game, their offense ranks 4th in Division 2. On defense, giving up an average of 22.2 points per game, they rank 45th in the division.

Notre-Dame Cathedral Latin looks to rebound after a 17-16 loss against the Padua Franciscan Bruins last week, which brought their record to 3-3. Neither side of the ball has been particularly strong for the Lions. Their offense scores an average of 28.3 points per game and their defense allows an average of 19 points per game, ranking 43rd and 40th in Division 3 respectively.

Prediction: Benedictine to win (52.56% chance of victory)
