As the playoff picture begins to take shape for the Perry Pirates and the West Geauga Wolverines, they come up on an important matchup against one another in week 10. The Pirates are confident that how they finish the season will be enough to bring them to the playoffs - they come into the game projected to finish 1st in the Region 13 playoff standings. For the Wolverines, chances aren't looking quite as good as they're projected to finish 11th in Region 13. The Pirates will come in as the favorites, projected to win the game 31-24. The Pirates, one of the better teams statewide, come into the game ranked 20th. On the other hand, the Wolverines come in ranked 269th in the state and 39th in Division 4. Perry comes in expecting to come away with the road victory. However, it looks to be one of the more hotly contested matchups of the week and West Geauga will be looking to defend their home field and finish the game on top. One of the more familiar matchups of week 10, both teams know what to expect. Perry will hope to continue the recent trend, in which they've won 3 of the last 5 matchups. In last year's installment, the Pirates came out on top by a score of 56-21.

Looking to build upon their 9-game winning streak, Perry comes into the week at 9-0. After their 36-7 win against the Geneva Eagles, they are confident in their ability to finish strong. On offense, the Pirates have been one of the best in the state this season, ranking 2nd with 50.9 points per game. Recent weeks haven't been quite as explosive as they've averaged 43.5 points per game but they remain one of the most explosive offenses statewide. Their defense ranks 41st in their division allowing an average of 21.1 points per game, but they have shown improvement in recent weeks - in their last 6 games, they've given up an average of 13 points.

West Geauga will look to continue the momentum of their 3-game winning streak, the most recent addition to which was a 27-16 win against the Chagrin Falls Tigers last week, bringing their record to 5-4. While the Wolverines haven't been the most high-powered offense throughout the season, they have been improving week to week. In the last 3 weeks, they've averaged 35.67, up from their season average of 25.8, which ranks 52nd in Division 4. Defensively, they'll look to show more signs of improvement after giving up 11 points on average in their last 2 games, improved from a On defense, they'll also be looking for improvement, which they have shown signs of in recent weeks. Over their last 2 games, they've allowed an average of 11 points, an improvement over their 48th-ranked 21.8 points allowed per game on the year.
