Kicking off the season against a presumably superior opponent, the Columbus Academy Vikings will look to silence doubters and prove themselves capable of overcoming odds stacked relatively heavily against them. The Wyoming Cowboys, projected to win by a score of 38 - 14, will still need to bring their A-game on Friday as a new season breeds new possibilities for better or for worse. Wyoming looks to be the superior team on paper, coming into the game ranked 62nd in the state while the Vikings rank 426th in the state and 62nd in Division 5. The Vikings will come into the game looking for the upset while the Cowboys look to meet expectations by controlling the game from start to finish. A new game on the schedule for both teams, it should shape out as an unpredictable affair. Usually, matchups from the previous year are used in developing a strategy for upcoming games. For these two, no such opportunity will be afforded.

Columbus Academy is towards the bottom of the pack in terms of playoff probability. However, with a win this week, they hope to turn the tables and prove themselves capable of surpassing their projected record for the season of 2-8. The strength of the team last season was the defense, where they ranked 8th in Division 5 with 13.8 points allowed per game. On offense, they ranked 30th with 29.8 points per game.

Wyoming can expect to make the playoffs once again as their projected record of 10-0 should be enough to get them in. They are predicted to finish 1st in the region and make yet another postseason appearance. They were successful on both sides of the ball last season, scoring 38.8 points per game on offense, which ranked 10th in Division 4, and giving up 10.3 points per game on defense, which rankedand 2nd.

Prediction: Wyoming to win (95.99% chance of victory)
