The Wyoming Cowboys and the Taft Senators head into a week 2 matchup on Friday looking for what will likely be a hardfought victory. While the Cowboys come in as 11-point favorites, the Senators will look to prove that they are the truly superior team. The Cowboys come into the week ranked 4th in Division 4. They'll go up against another one of the division's best as the Senators come in ranked 22nd. Taft will be tested at home against a formidable Wyoming team. While the road team is expected to get the victory, overcoming homefield advantage could be a major challenge for Friday's favorite. A rematch from their game last season, this matchup will be a good gauge on how each team has improved or regressed. In 2017, the Cowboys defeated the Senators by a score of 37 - 6.

While it's early in the season, Wyoming is essentially a lock to make the postseason. Projected to finish the season 10-0 a year after reaching the Regional Finals, the Cowboys look to finish 1st in their region. After one of the best Division 4 offensive performances in week 1, they'll look to keep their foot on the gas as they go on the road this week. After a 42 - 14 win against the Columbus Academy Vikings, they'll be looking for improvements on defense as the offense looks to keep putting points on the board.

Taft, after a playoff appearance last season, is poised to make another run in 2018. They enter the game projected to make the playoffs as a 9-1 team, which should be good for 4th in the region. Their season-opening 11-point 34 - 0s against the Thurgood Marshall Cougars showed that their defense can be dominant. Coming into week 2, they hope to operate effectively on offense and maintain their shutdown style of play on the defensive side of the ball.

Prediction: Wyoming to win (81.22% chance of victory)
