The Marion Local Flyers come into the second round of the playoffs projected to get a victory over the Lima Central Catholic Thunderbirds by a score of 34-16. However, anything can happen in the playoffs so you can throw mathematical predictions out the window. The playoffs are an interesting time of year as 7 teams fulfill their most ambitious goal in winning a state championship while the other 217 playoff teams will end their season with a loss. This matchup is no different as the winner will continue their playoff run while the loser will end its 2018 season with a loss. Marion Local comes in as Division 6's 1st-ranked team. Lima Central Catholic comes in ranked 6th. A new game on the schedule for both teams, it should shape out as an unpredictable affair. Strategically, this might lead to complications that could throw off the gameplan of either team.

Marion Local is 10-1 after their 55-7 win against the Spencerville Bearcats last week. This week, they look to build on that victory on the way to what they hope will be a strong finish to the season. The Flyers offense is the 8th-ranked offense in Division 6, scoring an average of 40.1 points per game over the course of the season. In their last 4 games, however, they've cooled off, averaging 33 points per game. While their defense has given up more points than usual in recent weeks, they deserve every bit as much of the credit for this season's successes as the offense. Over the course of the season, they've given up an average of 10.5 points per game, which ranks 7th in their division.

Lima Central Catholic will be looking to put together a win streak coming off of a 40-18 win over the Covington Buccaneers last week, which brings their record to 9-1. In recent weeks, the Thunderbirds haven't been quite as explosive on offense but they remain the 9th-ranked offense in Division 6, scoring an average of 39.2 points per game. While recent games have affected averages negatively, their defense is one of the best as well. They rank 14th in their division, giving up an average of 13.3 points per game.

Prediction: Marion Local to win (98.68% chance of victory)
