In this year's regional finals for the Trimble Tomcats, they are projected to come away with a 30-21 win over the Lucas Cubs. However, it should be one of the more hotly contested matchups of the round and all statistical predictions could easily go out the window. The playoffs are the best time of the year but also come with a great deal of drama as many powerhouses will even see their seasons cut short. Each week, it's do or die and, after this week is complete, half of the current playoff teams will be eliminated. The Tomcats, one of the top teams in Division 7, come into the game ranked 6th. The Cubs come in ranked 12th. There is a certain degree of familiarity between the two teams after they faced off last season. In 2017, the Tomcats defeated the Cubs by a score of 20-19.

Looking to build upon their 7-game winning streak, Trimble comes into the week at 11-1. After their 7-0 win against the Harvest Prep Warriors, they are confident in their ability to finish strong. The Tomcats offense is the 7th-ranked offense in Division 7, scoring an average of 38.9 points per game over the course of the season. In their last 2 games, however, they've cooled off, averaging 22 points per game. On defense, they've been just as strong. Allowing just 3.3 points per game over the course of the season, their defense ranks 1st in their division. Over the last 2 weeks, they've been even more proficient, giving up just 0 points per game.

Lucas will look to continue the momentum of their 7-game winning streak, the most recent addition to which was a 33-14 win against the Waterford Wildcats last week, bringing their record to 10-2. The Cubs offense is the 10th-ranked offense in Division 7, scoring an average of 37.6 points per game over the course of the season. In their last 3 games, however, they haven't been quite as explosive as they've averaged 32 points per game. While their offense is solid, the defense deserves equal credit for the season's successes. Their 15.8 points allowed per game ranks 15th in the division and continues to get better week by week - in their last 2 games, they've given up just 7 points per game.

Prediction: Trimble to win (66.22% chance of victory)
