Anything can happen in the playoffs. This is why the Anthony Wayne Generals come into the second round expecting a victory over the Avon Eagles, despite the fact the Eagles are projected to win the game by a score of 38-21. The playoffs are an interesting time of year as 7 teams fulfill their most ambitious goal in winning a state championship while the other 217 playoff teams will end their season with a loss. This matchup is no different as the winner will continue their playoff run while the loser will end its 2018 season with a loss. Avon comes in as Division 2's 3rd-ranked team. Anthony Wayne comes in ranked 10th. A new matchup on the schedule for each team, Saturday's game is a chance for each to test its skills and strategies against an unfamiliar opponent. Usually, matchups from the previous year are used in developing a strategy for upcoming games. For these two, no such opportunity will be afforded.

Avon is currently on a 8-game winning streak, which they hope to continue on Saturday. Coming off of a 49-14 win against the Springfield Blue Devils, they are 10-1 and their confidence continues to build as they finish up the year. The Eagles score an average of 47.6 points per game, which ranks 6th in the state offensively. In recent weeks, they've been even more proficient, scoring an average of 63 points per game over their last 2 games. Their defense allows an average of 18.7 points per game, which ranks 29th in their division.

For Anthony Wayne, Saturday is a chance to expand on a 11-game winning streak after their 56-0 win against the Valley Forge Patriots brought their record to 11-0. The Generals offense is one of the most high-powered in their division, particularly in recent weeks. For the year, they rank 9th in Division 2 with 40.8 points per game. Over the last 2 weeks, they've scored an average of 40.8. On defense, they've been just as strong. Allowing just 7.7 points per game over the course of the season, their defense ranks 3rd in their division. Over the last 6 weeks, they've been even more proficient, giving up just 3.33 points per game.

Prediction: Avon to win (84.90% chance of victory)
