Week 10 is a chance for the Walnut Ridge Scots to expand their already-solid playoff chances. They come into Friday projected to finish 5th in Region 8. They host the Columbus Independence 76ers, currently projected to finish 22nd in Region 11. Walnut Ridge has the edge on paper, entering the game as a 18-point favorite. However, the battle for a postseason bid can only be decided on the field. The Scots rank 39th in the state while the 76ers rank 280th in the state and 55th in Division 3. The Scots, the better team on paper, will look to prove their superiority on the field come Friday. One of the more familiar matchups of week 10, both teams know what to expect. Walnut Ridge will hope to continue the recent trend, in which they've won 4 of the last 5 matchups. In last year's installment, the Scots came out on top by a score of 35-0.

Looking to build upon their 2-game winning streak, Columbus Independence comes into the week at 5-4. After their 64-6 win against the Briggs Bruins, they are confident in their ability to finish strong. Scoring an average of 40 points per game on offense, the 76ers rank 5th in Division 3. They've been even more explosive in recent weeks, scoring an average of 51 over their last 2 games. Their defense gives up an average of 31.7 points per game, which ranks 94th in their division - in their last 2 games, they've improved, giving up an average of 20 points.

Walnut Ridge is no stranger to winning recently as they come off of a 9-game winning streak, including last week's 46-0 win against the Columbus West Cowboys. That brings their record to 9-0 as they look to add another notch to the win column. The Scots have been extremely impressive on offense all season, scoring 46.7 points per game, which ranks 10th in the state. In recent weeks, they've cooled off a little, scoring 39.5 points per game in their last 2 games. While their offense is extremely productive, the defense is what allows them to win games by such substantial margins. Giving up just 6 points per game, they rank 8th in the state. In their last 2 games, they've been even more stout, giving up an average of 3 points.

Prediction: Walnut Ridge to win (99.86% chance of victory)
