In a week 10 matchup with major playoff implications, the Jackson Polar Bears go on the road to face off against the Hoover Vikings. The Polar Bears enter the game projected to finish 8th in Region 1 at 7-3. The Vikings come in projected to finish 6th in Region 5 at 6-4 The Vikings come into the game as 1-point favorites and expect to take home the victory and ultimately complete their pursuit of the postseason. The Polar Bears, one of the better teams statewide, come into the game ranked 91st. On the other hand, the Vikings come in ranked 150th in the state and 32nd in Division 2. With no true consensus over who's the better team, they'll have to sort all that out on the field. The teams have played each other in each of the last five years so neither is likely to surprise the other. Over their last 5 matchups, the Polar Bears have won 3, a trend they hope to continue. In the most recent season's matchup, the Vikings proved superior, winning 42-35.

Jackson is currently on a 2-game winning streak, which they hope to continue on Friday. Coming off of a 41-6 win against the Green Bulldogs, they are 7-2 and their confidence continues to build as they finish up the year. Scoring an average of 29.1 points per game on offense, the Polar Bears rank 23rd in Division 1. They've been even more explosive in recent weeks, scoring an average of 37.5 over their last 2 games. While their offense is solid, the defense deserves equal credit for the season's successes. Their 11.9 points allowed per game ranks 7th in the division and continues to get better week by week - in their last 2 games, they've given up just 6 points per game.

Hoover looks to rebound after a 35-17 loss against the St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish last week, which brought their record to 5-4. In recent weeks, the Vikings haven't been quite as explosive on offense but they remain the 13th-ranked offense in Division 2, scoring an average of 38.3 points per game. Their defense allows an average of 29.9 points per game, which ranks 75th in their division.

Prediction: Hoover to win (53.69% chance of victory)
