This week's matchup between the Solon Comets and the McKinley Bulldogs should be one of the more competitive of the first round, the Comets entering the week projected to win by a score of 30-24. It's do or die for each team as always in the postseason. Regardless of the outcome, each team can take comfort in the fact that they had a successful enough season to get here, but only one team will be satisfied with the result as the other's season will end on a loss. The Comets, one of the top teams in Division 1, come into the game ranked 13th. The Bulldogs come in ranked 16th. There is a certain degree of familiarity between the two teams after they faced off last season. In 2018, the Bulldogs defeated the Comets by a score of 28-15.

Solon is currently on a 4-game winning streak, which they hope to continue on Saturday. Coming off of a 38-15 win against the Elyria Pioneers, they are 8-2 and their confidence continues to build as they finish up the year. Scoring an average of 31.1 points per game on offense, the Comets rank 18th in Division 1. They've been even more explosive in recent weeks, scoring an average of 35.5 over their last 2 games. Their defense gives up an average of 25.6 points per game, which ranks 46th in their division - in their last 3 games, they've improved, giving up an average of 17 points.

McKinley looks to rebound after a 24-14 loss against the Massillon Tigers last week, which brought their record to 8-2. In recent weeks, the Bulldogs haven't been quite as explosive on offense but they remain the 14th-ranked offense in Division 1, scoring an average of 33.5 points per game. Their defense ranks 29th in their division giving up an average of 20 points per game, but they've been improving with each game - over the last 4 weeks, they've allowed an average of 11.75 points.

Prediction: Solon to win (68.89% chance of victory)
