Friday's matchup between the Upper Scioto Valley Rams and the Elgin Comets takes place between two teams that, as of now, most likely will not earn postseason bids. Currently, the Rams and the Comets are projected to finish 19th and 26th in their respective regional playoff standings. Upper Scioto Valley enters the week as a 9-point favorite and will look to expand their playoff chances with a victory on Friday. Elgin will be tested at home against a formidable Upper Scioto Valley team. While the road team is expected to get the victory, overcoming homefield advantage could be a major challenge for Friday's favorite. There is a certain degree of familiarity between the two teams after they faced off last season. Last year, the Comets got the better of the Rams, winning by a score of 46-14.

Upper Scioto Valley comes into the game on a 3-game losing streak, which they hope to put to an end on Friday. Their 21-6 loss against the Lehman Catholic Cavaliers last week brings their record to 3-6. Particularly in recent weeks, the Rams offense has struggled to put points on the board. In their last 3 games, they've put up an average of 4 points per game. Throughout the course of the season, they've averaged 17.8, which ranks 72nd in Division 7. They aren't a top defense in terms of points allowed either, but they have given up less points in recent weeks. While they rank 55th in their division on the season with 25.6 points allowed per game, they've given up an improved average of 20.5 points over their last 2 games.

Elgin will come into the week looking to put an end to their current 9-game losing streak after a 28-18 loss against the Waynesfield-Goshen Tigers brought their record down to 0-9. The Comets have struggled on offense, scoring only 13 points per game over their last 2 games. On the year, they rank 84th in Division 6, scoring an average of 18.7 points per game over the course of the season. They've played at a simiar level on defense, ranking 91st in their division, giving up 34.9 points per game. Over their last 2 games, however, they have made progress, giving up an average of 20 points per game.

Prediction: Upper Scioto Valley to win (85.93% chance of victory)
