In the first round of the playoffs, there are usually a few games in each division that serve as a preview to the rest of the excitement we'll see as we approach the state championships. This week's matchup between the St. Francis DeSales Stallions and the Turpin Spartans looks to be one of those games as the Spartans comes into the game as 1-point favorites in what essentially amounts to a toss-up. It's do or die for each team as always in the postseason. Regardless of the outcome, each team can take comfort in the fact that they had a successful enough season to get here, but only one team will be satisfied with the result as the other's season will end on a loss. St. Francis DeSales comes in as Division 2's 19th-ranked team. Turpin comes in ranked 13th. A new game on the schedule for both teams, it should shape out as an unpredictable affair. Strategically, this might lead to complications that could throw off the gameplan of either team.

St. Francis DeSales will look to rebound this week after their Bishop Hartley Hawks in their last game. Particularly in recent weeks, the Stallions offense has struggled to put points on the board. In their last 2 games, they've put up an average of 21.5 points per game. Throughout the course of the season, they've averaged 27.9, which ranks 37th in Division 2. They rank similarly on defense, coming in at 40th in their division, allowing 22.2 points per game. That number has generally gone up in recent weeks as they've given up an average of 14.75 points in their last 4 games.

Turpin will look to continue the momentum of their 10-game winning streak, the most recent addition to which was a 42-13 win against the Milford Eagles last week, bringing their record to 10-0. Scoring an average of 42.2 points per game on offense, the Spartans rank 6th in Division 2. They've been even more dominant in recent weeks, scoring an average of 50.5 over their last 2 games. While recent games have affected averages negatively, their defense is one of the best as well. They rank 13th in their division, giving up an average of 14.5 points per game.

Prediction: Turpin to win (90.14% chance of victory)
