This week's matchup between the Avon Lake Shoremen and the Olmsted Falls Bulldogs should be one of the more competitive of the first round, the Shoremen entering the week projected to win by a score of 35-30. The playoffs are the best time of the year but also come with a great deal of drama as many powerhouses will even see their seasons cut short. Each week, it's do or die and, after this week is complete, half of the current playoff teams will be eliminated. The Bulldogs rank 11th in the division while the Shoremen rank 17th. This is a chance for the Shoremen to avenge a loss from earlier on in the regular season, when the Bulldogs beat them 34-31. They also played last season, a matchup in which the Bulldogs got the better of the Shoremen, winning by a score of 21-20.

Olmsted Falls is currently on a 3-game winning streak, which they hope to continue on Friday. Coming off of a 56-14 win against the North Olmsted Eagles, they are 8-2 and their confidence continues to build as they finish up the year. The Bulldogs score an average of 44.8 points per game, which ranks 18th in the state offensively. In recent weeks, they've been even more proficient, scoring an average of 52.25 points per game over their last 4 games. Their defense allows an average of 26.6 points per game, which ranks 64th in their division.

After a 45-7 win against the Midview Middies brought their record to 9-1, Avon Lake will be looking to carry that momentum over and earn another victory. The Shoremen rank 9th in Division 2 on offense, scoring an average of 40.5. However, over the last 2 weeks, their average is down to 38 points per game. While recent games have affected averages negatively, their defense is one of the best as well. They rank 25th in their division, giving up an average of 17.5 points per game.

Prediction: Avon Lake to win (54.91% chance of victory)
