In the second round of the playoffs, the Clear Fork Colts come in with an edge over the Clearview Clippers on paper, projected to win by a score of 41-18. The playoffs are an interesting time of year as 7 teams fulfill their most ambitious goal in winning a state championship while the other 217 playoff teams will end their season with a loss. This matchup is no different as the winner will continue their playoff run while the loser will end its 2018 season with a loss. Clearview comes in as Division 4's 26th-ranked team. Clear Fork comes in ranked 6th. Having matched up in 2017, there is a degree of familiarity between the two. Last season, the Colts beat the Clippers 44-0.

Clearview is currently on a 10-game winning streak, which they hope to continue on Sunday. Coming off of a 30-16 win against the Marengo Highland Fighting Scots, they are 10-1 and their confidence continues to build as they finish up the year. In recent weeks, the Clippers haven't been quite as successful producing points but they remain the 22nd-ranked offense in Division 4, scoring an average of 34.3 points per game. While recent games have affected averages negatively, their defense is one of the best as well. They rank 12th in their division, giving up an average of 13.2 points per game.

Clear Fork will look to continue the momentum of their 11-game winning streak, the most recent addition to which was a 20-6 win against the Bryan Golden Bears last week, bringing their record to 11-0. On offense, the Colts have been one of the best in the state this season, ranking 15th with 44.8 points per game. Recent weeks haven't been quite as explosive as they've averaged 28 points per game but they remain one of the most explosive offenses statewide. On defense, their last few weeks haven't even done justice to how good they've been all season. They've given up 16.6 points per game over their last 5, down from their average of 11.4, which ranks 6th in their division on the season.

Prediction: Clear Fork to win (99.44% chance of victory)
