The Catholic Central Crusaders begin the season with a game they should win. Going up against the Africentric Nubians, the Crusaders is projected to win by a score of 43-16. Catholic Central ranks 23rd in Division 7 as opposed to Africentric, who rank 103rd in Division 6. The Crusaders come into the week expecting the home victory, which is the most probable outcome. However, the upset-minded Nubians will come in looking to prove preconceived notions wrong. A new matchup on the schedule for each team, Saturday's game is a chance for each to test its skills and strategies against an unfamiliar opponent. Usually, matchups from the previous year are used in developing a strategy for upcoming games. For these two, no such opportunity will be afforded.

For Africentric, each game is an opportunity to develop and improve. Nobody expects a state championship run or even necessarily a playoff appearance from them so it's a season they'll likely be playing most of their games for pride. They enter the game with a projected regular season record of 0-10, projected to finish 25th in the region. Last year wasn't a particularly strong year on either side of the ball for the Nubians. They scored an average of 6.2 points per game on offense, ranking 99th in their division, and gave up 42.7 points per game, ranking 99th on defense.

Catholic Central, a playoff team in 2018, is ready for another playoff run in 2019. They are projected to finish the season as the region's 4th best team and go into the playoffs with a 7-3 regular season record. The Crusaders offense was one of the best in Division 7 last year, scoring a 25th-ranked 30.3 points per game. On defense, they gave up a 43rd-ranked 22.3 points per game.

Prediction: Catholic Central to win (99.84% chance of victory)
