One of the most highly anticipated matchups of the first round comes between the Fort Frye Cadets and the Dalton Bulldogs, the Cadets projected to win by a score of 33-29. It's do or die for each team as always in the postseason. Regardless of the outcome, each team can take comfort in the fact that they had a successful enough season to get here, but only one team will be satisfied with the result as the other's season will end on a loss. Dalton comes in as Division 6's 22nd-ranked team. Fort Frye comes in ranked 6th. A new game on the schedule for both teams, it should shape out as an unpredictable affair. Stylistically and schematically, past matchups are often used as a guiding tool. This week, however, each team will likely take time to adjust to an unfamiliar opponent, which should make for some added excitement.

Dalton is currently on a 7-game winning streak, which they hope to continue on Saturday. Coming off of a 41-7 win against the Rittman Indians, they are 9-1 and their confidence continues to build as they finish up the year. Scoring an average of 40.8 points per game on offense, the Bulldogs rank 11th in Division 6. They've been even more explosive in recent weeks, scoring an average of 43.67 over their last 6 games. Their defense ranks 43rd in their division giving up an average of 22.4 points per game, but they've been improving with each game - over the last 2 weeks, they've allowed an average of 8.5 points.

For Fort Frye, Saturday is a chance to expand on a 10-game winning streak after their 69-8 win against the Magnolia Blue Eagles brought their record to 10-0. The Cadets have been one of the most prolific offenses in the state and even stronger in their most recent contests. Scoring an average of 48.9 points per game, their offense ranks 4th in the state. Over their last 4 games, they've been even more impressive, scoring an average of 54.25 points per game. While their offense is extremely productive, the defense is what allows them to win games by such substantial margins. Giving up just 8.9 points per game, they rank 23rd in the state. In their last 6 games, they've been even more stout, giving up an average of 3.67 points.

Prediction: Fort Frye to win (99.60% chance of victory)
