One of the most significant games on the schedule for week 6 is a matchup between the Mason Comets and the Lakota West Firebirds. Both teams have a solid likelihood of making the playoffs, the Comets projected to finish 7th in Region 4 and the Firebirds projected to finish 8th in Region 4. The Firebirds are projected to take home the victory on Friday by a score of 20 - 19. The better team on paper, the Comets come into the game ranked 36th in the state and 13th in Division 1. The Firebirds come in ranked 213th in the state and 47th in Division 1. With no definitive indication over who is truly the better team, each side will have to make its case on the field come Friday. Having matched up in 2017, there is a degree of familiarity between the two. Last year, the Comets got the better of the Firebirds, winning by a score of 31 - 0.

Looking to build upon their 3-game winning streak, Mason comes into the week at 4-1. After their 34 - 21 win against the Hamilton Big Blue, they are confident in their ability to finish strong. They could use some improvement on both sides of the ball - on offense, they rank 37th in Division 1 with 23 points per game; on defense, they give up 18.8 points per game, which ranks 36th.

Lakota West tallied up a 34 - 0 win against the Oak Hills Highlanders last week, bringing their record to 2-3 - they'll look to add to the win column once again on Friday. The Firebirds have struggled thus far on each side of the ball. Scoring 12.8 points per game, they rank 65th in Division 1. Defensively, giving up 18.6 points per game, ranks 35th in the division.

Prediction: Lakota West to win (95.37% chance of victory)
