As the playoff picture begins to take shape for the Pleasant Spartans and the Buckeye Valley Barons, they come up on an important matchup against one another in week 7. The Spartans are confident that how they finish the season will be enough to bring them to the playoffs - they come into the game projected to finish 4th in the Region 18 playoff standings. For the Barons, chances aren't looking quite as good as they're projected to finish 25th in Region 11. The Spartans will come in as the favorites, projected to win the game 36 - 15. The Spartans, one of the better teams statewide, come into the game ranked 75th. On the other hand, the Barons come in ranked 434th in the state and 79th in Division 3. One of the bigger road favorites of the week, the Spartans will look to fulfill expectations and bring home the win. For the Barons, this won't be taken lightly as they look to prove themselves capable of defending their home field against one of the tougher opponents on their schedule. The teams have played each other in each of the last five years so neither is likely to surprise the other. Over their last 5 matchups, the Spartans have won 4, a trend they hope to continue. In the most recent season's matchup, the Spartans proved superior, winning 42 - 17.

Pleasant is currently on a 6-game winning streak, which they hope to continue on Friday. Coming off of a 35 - 13 win against the North Union Wildcats, they are 6-0 and their confidence continues to build as they finish up the year. A top team in the division on both sides of the ball, they score an average of 39.3 points per game on offense, which ranks 10th in Division 5, and allow an average of 8 points per game, ranking 4th in the division.

After a 19 - 16 win against the Ontario Warriors brought their record to 2-4, Buckeye Valley will be looking to carry that momentum over and earn another victory. The Barons aren't particularly dominant on either side of the ball. On offense, they rank 94th in Division 3 with 12 points per game. Their defense, which gives up 25.3 points per game, ranks 66th in their division.

Prediction: Pleasant to win (92.74% chance of victory)
