The Genoa Area Comets come into Friday projected to finish the season 4-6 at 18th in Region 18. They host the Eastwood Eagles, who are currently expected to make the playoffs at 1st in Region 18. Eastwood have the edge on paper, entering the game as a 10-point favorite. However, the battle for a postseason bid can only be decided on the field. This week's matchup pits two of the Division 5's best against one another. Eastwood ranks 5th while Genoa Area ranks 15th. This is an unpredictable matchup as the Eagles, projected favoritees, will have to defeat the Comets on their home field. Not only is it unpredictable from a standpoint of who will come out on top, but also whether it'll be a close game or a decisive victory for one of these teams. The teams have played each other in each of the last five years so neither is likely to surprise the other. Over their last 5 matchups, the Eagles have won 3, a trend they hope to continue. In 2018's matchup, the Comets came away with a 21-7 victory.

Looking to build upon their 6-game winning streak, Eastwood comes into the week at 6-0. After their 49-7 win against the Woodmore Wildcats, they are confident in their ability to finish strong. Thus far, they've been one of the best teams in their division on both sides of the ball. Their 41.8 points per game ranks 11th in Division 5 while their 11.3 points allowed per game ranks 8th.

Genoa Area looks to rebound after a 28-7 loss against the Rossford Bulldogs last week, which brought their record to 2-4. Neither side of the ball has been particularly strong for the Comets. Their offense scores an average of 15.3 points per game and their defense allows an average of 22.5 points per game, ranking 88th and 50th in Division 5 respectively.

Prediction: Eastwood to win (64.58% chance of victory)
