One of the most highly anticipated matchups of the first round comes between the Solon Comets and the McKinley Bulldogs, the Comets projected to win by a score of 30-23. The playoffs are an interesting time of year as 7 teams fulfill their most ambitious goal in winning a state championship while the other 217 playoff teams will end their season with a loss. This matchup is no different as the winner will continue their playoff run while the loser will end its 2018 season with a loss. McKinley comes in as Division 1's 18th-ranked team. Solon comes in ranked 19th. A new game on the schedule for both teams, it should shape out as an unpredictable affair. Strategically, this might lead to complications that could throw off the gameplan of either team.

McKinley looks to get back on track this week as they come in on a 2-game losing streak. They are currently 8-2 after a 24-17 loss against the Massillon Tigers last week. The Bulldogs offense is the 8th-ranked offense in Division 1, scoring an average of 34.6 points per game over the course of the season. In their last 2 games, however, they've cooled off, averaging 22.5 points per game. Their defense gives up an average of 18.6 points per game, ranking 34th in their division.

Looking to rebound from a 27-24 loss against the Medina Bees last week, Solon will try to establish momentum early and sustain it throughout. The Comets have struggled on offense, scoring only 18.25 points per game over their last 4 games. On the year, they rank 26th in Division 1, scoring an average of 26.9 points per game over the course of the season. The defense hasn't been much better statistically, giving up an average of 14.4 points per game, which ranks 14th in their division.

Prediction: Solon to win (74.62% chance of victory)
