This week, the South Point Pointers will face a tough task as they head into Friday as 19-point underdogs against the Dawson-Bryant Hornets. While it does look to be at least a moderately competitive matchup, the Pointers will need to prove they can elevate their play and find a way to win. Dawson-Bryant, who should be able to quiet the home crowd and control the game, will have to prove they can do so on Friday. One of the more familiar matchups of week 4, both teams know what to expect. Dawson-Bryant will hope to continue the recent trend, in which they've won 5 of the last 5 matchups. In last year's installment, the Hornets came out on top by a score of 55-14.
After two weeks, the Hornets are looking like an improved team. After failing to make the playoffs in 2018, they come into week 4 with a 1-2 record. Projected to finish 6th in the region, they have a strong chance of making the playoffs if they can win the games they're expected to. Thus far, they haven't been particularly strong in terms of scoring on either side of the ball. Their offense ranks 61st in Division 6, scoring an average of 21 points per game. On defense, giving up 20.7 points per game, they rank 44th in the division.
For South Point, while it is early in the season, playoffs would be a bit of a stretch. Projected to finish the regular season with a 1-9 record, they come into this week projected to finish 27th in the regional playoff standings. Neither side of the ball has been particularly strong for the Pointers. Their offense scores an average of 23 points per game and their defense allows an average of 23.3 points per game, ranking 59th and 52nd in Division 5 respectively.
Prediction: Dawson-Bryant to win (96.36% chance of victory)
