As the end of the season draws near, playoffs are the only thing on any team's mind that still stands a reasonable chance. On Friday, two of these teams meet - the Mason Comets and the Princeton Vikings. The Comets come into the game projected to enter the playoffs as Region 4's 7th best team at 5-5. The Vikings come into the game projected to finish 6-4 as Region 4's 6th best team. Mason will enter the game as a 5-point favorite, projected to win the game 25-20. The better team on paper, the Comets come into the game ranked 93rd in the state and 29th in Division 1. The Vikings come in ranked 205th in the state and 44th in Division 1. Mason comes in expecting to come away with the road victory. However, it looks to be one of the more hotly contested matchups of the week and Princeton will be looking to defend their home field and finish the game on top. The teams are no strangers to one another, playing against each other in each of the last five years. Over their last 5 matchups, the Comets have been superior, coming out on top in 5 of them. However, the past won't matter come kickoff. In 2018's matchup, the Comets came away with a 16-13 victory.

Mason hopes to build off of last week's 41-21 win against the Middletown Middies and finish the season strong. The Comets offense will look to continue to improve as they've scored an average of 34.5 points per game over their last 2 games, up from their season average of 20.8, which ranks 49th in Division 1. On the opposite side of the ball, they rank 36th in the division, allowing 21.7 points per game.

Princeton is no stranger to winning recently as they come off of a 2-game winning streak, including last week's 41-35 win against the Lakota West Firebirds. That brings their record to 6-3 as they look to add another notch to the win column. The Vikings offense is one of the most high-powered in their division, particularly in recent weeks. For the year, they rank 20th in Division 1 with 30.2 points per game. Over the last 2 weeks, they've scored an average of 30.2. Their defense gives up an average of 18.9 points per game, ranking 26th in their division.

Prediction: Mason to win (75.90% chance of victory)
