The Avon Eagles enter the regional finals against the Avon Lake Shoremen in a game they're projected to win by a score of 38-23. It's do or die for each team as always in the postseason. Regardless of the outcome, each team can take comfort in the fact that they had a successful enough season to get here, but only one team will be satisfied with the result as the other's season will end on a loss. The Shoremen rank 7th in the division while the Eagles rank 2nd. This is a chance for the Shoremen to avenge a loss from earlier on in the regular season, when the Eagles beat them 13-12. They also played in 2018, a matchup in which the defeated the Eagles by a score of 31-28.

Looking to build upon their 11-game winning streak, Avon Lake comes into the week at 11-1. After their 31-21 win against the Wadsworth Grizzlies, they are confident in their ability to finish strong. The Shoremen offense is the 19th-ranked offense in Division 2, scoring an average of 33.8 points per game over the course of the season. In their last 3 games, however, they've cooled off, averaging 33.33 points per game. On defense, their last few weeks haven't even done justice to how good they've been all season. They've given up 13.5 points per game over their last 2, down from their average of 6.4, which ranks 1st in their division on the season.

Avon is no stranger to winning recently as they come off of a 12-game winning streak, including last week's 49-28 win against the Benedictine Bengals. That brings their record to 12-0 as they look to add another notch to the win column. The Eagles are consistently explosive on offense, ranking 22nd with 42.2. However, they have come back towards earth lately, averaging 38.75 points per game over the last 4 weeks. While their defense has given up more points than usual in recent weeks, they deserve every bit as much of the credit for this season's successes as the offense. Over the course of the season, they've given up an average of 13.5 points per game, which ranks 10th in their division.

Prediction: Avon to win (99.29% chance of victory)
